brother and sister [MAKERS both]
Same fragile Source:
nurtured, shared.
considered, apportioned.
finite or infinite?
I am Cynthia Hatfield and Phil Kurz was an artist and my brother. As little ones do, we developed systems to share the finite attentions of our mother - our beloved source. On into our adulthood we continued to have much the same feelings about the mysterious Source of the creative energies that produced our art. Though a bit younger, as we were growing up, he was the person I could most trust to give me thoughtful and true answers to my questions, as well as the light of his humor, music, poetry and art. Even after his illness, and my marriage; we always valued each other and believed in the strength of the constant thread in both our lives: our art.
Separated by love, time, an ocean and intent...years later and months before - we allowed ourselves to reconnect and rekindle Trust.
Then he was extinguised like a candle, leaving behind a shrine of darkness and glimmers of dawn,
This fuzzy photo at the Kensington Tea Room
was taken in May of 2016, a month before Phil chose to depart his life.
Phil left behind a prolific collection of unique and valuable artwork; drawings, paintings, assembages, journals and philosophical
(he would say, 'metaphysical') writings.
Herein I share most especially HIS Life's work
since he had a hard time doing so himself, and it is
well
worth
seeing.
